Q:What is QEI certification?
A:QEI (Qualified Elevator Inspection) is a certification attained having met the experience and education requirements of the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). All SEI inspectors are QEI certified and licensed by the State of WI and MN. Additionally, our inspectors complete annual continuing education programs.

A: Annually as state/federal law requires
Q: Why do I need an inspection?
A: To know you are getting what you are paying for from your service provider. All elevators must be inspected annually, proving compliance with state code to apply for certificate of operation renewal.
Q: How are your inspectors certified?
A: All of our inspectors are certified on a national and state level. The national QEI certification is with the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA)https://naesai.org/ and the state certification is with the MN Department Labor and Industryhttp://www.dli.mn.gov/CCLD/Elevator.asp.
Q: When should hydraulic cylinders buried in the ground be replaced?
A: Whenever you cannot account for a loss of hydraulic fluid, which is an indication of a possible leak in the cylinder.
Q: How can I determine if my buried cylinder does not have a safety bulkhead?
A: Cylinders installed prior to 1972 with a state serial number of 09982 or less must be replaced. The new cylinder must have a safety bulkhead.
Q-Who can work on Elevators?
A: Anyone working on elevators must now be licensed.
